Sony PlayStation PS3 Hard Drive Upgrades
Cheaper, bigger & better than a new PS3
When your Playstation PS3 hard drive is full, upgrade to a bigger disk.
If you have to remove data and saves from your PS3 because you have no space left for new games, it can really take the pleasure out of having a new game.
So you could spend around £280 on a new 320 GB PS3. But wouldn’t you rather keep all your data and game saves and only spend around £100 to get a 500 GB PS3?
Follow these steps:
Buy my upgrade service using PayPal
Select the capacity of your PS3 hard disk.| Select the capacity of the hard disk you want in your PS3. You also have the option to supply your own disk and just pay for my upgrade service (£45).Please see the notes below about suitable hard disks. You also need the PS3 serial number from the bottom of your PlayStation PS3. £15 for return postage will be added at the checkout. |
When you get your PS3 back you get to keep the old hard disk. That can be placed inside a cheap caddy for use with your PC.
The Small Print: There is a three month guarantee, during which period we will keep a copy of your PS3 data, in case it needs to be restored to another hard disk, in the event of a problem with the hard disk used in the upgrade. However, because Sony downloadable updates can cause problems with any PS3 at any time, the guarantee is voided when you next update either the system or a game. My service is of no use if there is already a problem with your PS3. If you have a problem contact Sony. Also I cannot save data from an already corrupted hard disk. The service cannot be used to transfer the data from one PS3 to another. The back-up is specific to your PS3 only. If in any doubt purchase one that is explicitly playstation compatible (it should cost no more than one that is not), for example one of those here. You can also buy a caddy for your PS3′s old hard disk, so that you can use it with a PC or Mac.
If you are supplying your own hard disk
It must be a 2.5 inch SATA disk of the type used in laptops. PATA, ATA or IDE are not compatible, and the capacity should be no more than 640 GB. If you have a spare disk from a reasonably modern laptop, it should do. Look on its label for the word SATA or “Serial ATA”.
Send your playstation
Package and send your Playstation PS3 Before turning off the PS3 and packaging it, log in to each of the user profiles on the PS3 and sync them with the Playstation Network. Although stored data and gamesaves will be cloned to your new disk, trophies need to be synced with the network first. Our cloning process will not remove any trophies that have already been synced, so don’t worry too much if your PS3 has a lot of accounts on it from friends with their own PS3s who have casually used yours.
If possible, use the original packaging. Record the serial number from the bottom of the PS3 and make sure this appears somewhere on the box.
